Conditions we treat

Foot, ankle & lower-limb conditions

From the ball of your foot to your knee, we diagnose and treat the conditions that keep you off your feet. We isolate the cause — not just the symptom — and build a plan to fix it.

Condition

Heel Pain

The most common foot complaint we see.

Heel pain is the most common complaint we treat. The usual culprit is plantar fasciitis — inflammation of the band of tissue running along the sole of the foot — but heel pain can also stem from Sever’s disease (common in active children and teens), calcaneal (heel-bone) stress fractures, or bursitis.

We diagnose the specific cause, then treat it conservatively. Custom orthotics are the single most effective treatment for most heel pain, taking load off the painful tissue while it heals. We’ll combine that with stretching, footwear advice and load management to get you walking comfortably again.

What we treat & how

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sever’s disease
  • Calcaneal stress fractures
  • Bursitis
Condition

Arch Pain

Pain under the arch, often biomechanical.

Pain under the arch of the foot is frequently biomechanical — the arch is working too hard or collapsing under load, straining the muscles and soft tissue that support it. It often overlaps with plantar fasciitis and can be the first sign of overpronation.

Orthotic therapy is the primary treatment for arch pain: a custom device supports the arch, restores efficient alignment and relieves the strain. We pair it with targeted strengthening and the right footwear so the improvement holds.

What we treat & how

  • Overpronation / arch collapse
  • Plantar fascia strain
  • Posterior tibial tendon overload
Condition

Ankle Pain

From sprains to chronic instability.

Ankle pain ranges from acute sprains to chronic instability and tendon overload. A poorly rehabilitated sprain is one of the most common reasons people end up with a recurring, unstable ankle — so getting the rehab right matters.

We assess the joint, identify what’s driving the pain and build a rehabilitative exercise programme to restore strength, balance and control. Bracing, strapping and orthotic support can all play a role in protecting the joint while it recovers.

What we treat & how

  • Acute & recurring sprains
  • Chronic ankle instability
  • Tendon overload
  • Guided rehabilitation exercises
Condition

Achilles & Calf Pain

Tendinopathy and overload injuries.

Achilles and calf pain is common in runners and anyone who ramps up activity quickly. Achilles tendinopathy — an overload injury of the tendon — responds well to the right loading programme, but the wrong approach can keep it lingering for months.

We diagnose the stage of the injury and prescribe a structured rehabilitative exercise programme, supported where needed by heel raises, footwear changes and activity modification to offload the tendon while it builds strength.

What we treat & how

  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Calf strains & overload
  • Guided exercise & loading programmes
  • Heel raises & footwear support
Condition

Forefoot Pain

Pain in the ball of the foot and toes.

Forefoot pain — in the ball of the foot and toes — can come from overload of the metatarsals, nerve irritation, bursitis or structural issues like bunions. It’s often aggravated by footwear and high-impact activity.

We pinpoint the source, then treat it to relieve everyday aches and regain strength. Treatment can include orthotic offloading, footwear changes, padding, strengthening and activity adjustments tailored to your foot.

What we treat & how

  • Metatarsal overload
  • Nerve irritation
  • Bursitis
  • Bunion-related pain
Condition

Knee Pain

Knee pain from a biomechanical viewpoint.

Knee pain often has its roots further down the chain. Because the foot can affect the upper body and the upper body can affect the foot, poor lower-limb biomechanics — how your foot and leg move and load — are a frequent, overlooked driver of knee pain.

We assess your gait and lower-limb biomechanics, then address the faults loading your knee — through orthotic therapy, footwear changes, strengthening and a rehabilitative exercise programme designed for your knee.

What we treat & how

  • Biomechanical (gait-driven) knee pain
  • Patellofemoral overload
  • Guided rehabilitation exercises
  • Orthotic & footwear correction
Condition

Shin Pain

Shin splints and lower-leg overload.

Shin pain — commonly “shin splints” (medial tibial stress syndrome) — is an overload injury of the lower leg, common when training volume increases too fast or biomechanics overload the shin.

We identify what’s overloading the shin and build a rehabilitative exercise programme to settle the pain and prevent recurrence, supported by footwear advice, orthotic correction and a sensible return-to-load plan.

What we treat & how

  • Shin splints (MTSS)
  • Lower-leg overload
  • Guided exercise programmes
  • Footwear & orthotic correction
