Achilles & Calf Pain
Achilles tendinopathy and calf tightness are common in runners — and very responsive to the right rehab.
About Achilles & calf pain
Pain in the Achilles tendon and calf is one of the most common complaints among runners and active people. Achilles tendinopathy in particular tends to build gradually, and responds best to a structured, progressive approach rather than rest alone.
Treatment & exercises
The cornerstone of treatment is a carefully graded strengthening programme for the calf and Achilles, progressed as the tendon adapts. We support this with load management, footwear advice and — where biomechanics are loading the tendon — heel raises or orthotic therapy.
How Auckland Sports Podiatry can help
We’ll grade your symptoms and your loading, then prescribe the right exercises in the right order — alongside footwear and orthotic changes where they’ll take strain off the Achilles and calf.
Every plan starts with finding the true cause of your pain. From there we may combine orthotic therapy, footwear advice, strengthening and stretching, strapping or bracing, gait changes and activity modification — whatever gets you moving comfortably again.
