Arch Pain
Pain through the arch of the foot can make every step uncomfortable — orthotic therapy is often the answer.
What is arch pain?
Arch pain is discomfort felt under or along the arch of the foot. It’s frequently linked to the way your foot loads as you walk and run — flat feet, high arches and overloading can all play a part.
Treatment
Because arch pain is so closely tied to biomechanics, orthotic therapy is often the primary treatment. Custom orthotics support the arch, redistribute load and take the strain off the painful tissues so they can settle. Footwear changes, stretching and strengthening commonly support the orthotics.
How Auckland Sports Podiatry can help
A biomechanical assessment shows us exactly how your arch is loading. From there, custom orthotic therapy is often the most effective way to relieve arch pain — supporting the foot and balancing the forces running through it.
Every plan starts with finding the true cause of your pain. From there we may combine orthotic therapy, footwear advice, strengthening and stretching, strapping or bracing, gait changes and activity modification — whatever gets you moving comfortably again.
